New Year, New You? No Way!

It's that time of year again when we're all bombarded with advertising campaigns telling us we need to eat better, exercises more, and generally live a miserable boring life. I think, life's too short! We should never deny ourselves what we really want, as we only live one life. The key is balance, and I believe that can be applied to all aspects of life, whether food, exercise, work and play!

And speaking of balance, what better then yoga? The word 'yoga' comes from the Sanskrit word 'yoke' - or to unite. A union of mind, body and soul. Yoga helps to calm the mind, stretch the body and soothe the soul, and it doesn't matter if you're old, young, fit or unfit, we can all benefit in different ways. Yoga is a practice of self-care, an hour's dedicated time to ourselves, when we have nowhere else to be, and nothing else to worry about. We all have stresses and things going on in our lives, and its really important to take that time to look after ourselves properly. As the old saying goes, you can't look after someone else if you're not looking after yourself!

And what better time the New Year to put yourself first? I believe the New Year is a great time to refocus and take stock, not about setting strict rules but working out whats going well and whats not, and how we can work to change what's not.

So, put yourself first, and I'll see you on the mat sometime soon :)
